We are on the first floor of the Hikone Station Building — one minute from the ticket gates to our binchotan grill. Omi chicken is a Shiga brand bird, firm in texture and deep in flavour. Twenty counter seats face the grill, and tables, tatami seating and private rooms for 4 and for 8 bring us to 80 seats in all.
Bone-in thigh, tsukune and local vegetables, simmered until the broth turns milky white. It begins with a cup of that soup, poured before anything else. The 5,000 yen mizutaki course (8 items) comes with 120 minutes of all-you-can-drink and finishes with ramen made from the same broth.
We break down Shiga's Omi chicken in-house and grill it one skewer at a time over high-heat Bincho charcoal. Momomi is our signature cut. The twenty counter seats look straight onto the grill, so each skewer lands in front of you the moment it is done.
A three-kind chicken tataki assortment of momo, mune and low-temperature liver. The 4,500 yen course (10 items) opens with two of these Chiran chicken tataki. A touch of yuzu pepper is all it needs.

Twenty of our seats face the grill. Twenty people can sit close enough to be handed a skewer the second it is done. Securing that many counter seats inside a station building is what makes Hikone Hikone.

Twenty counter seats face the grill. Beyond them are tables and tatami seating for families and groups, private rooms for 4 and for 8, and an open terrace where smoking is allowed. Some seats have power outlets. With 80 seats we take parties of up to 20 guests; we do not offer whole-restaurant hire.

One minute on foot from JR Hikone Station, on the 1st floor of the Hikone Station Building. We seat 80 in total, 20 of them at the counter, and open daily 17:00–24:00 (L.O. 23:00), grilling Omi chicken over Bincho charcoal one skewer at a time.
Private rooms for yakitori in Hikone — how many fit? Two private rooms, one for 4 guests and one for 8. With 20 counter seats, tables and tatami as well the restaurant seats 80, and we take parties of up to 20 (we do not offer whole-restaurant hire). Courses run from 4,500 yen including tax with 120 minutes of all-you-can-drink, for 2–20 guests, in six variations.
Can you drop in after Hikone Castle or Yumekyobashi Castle Road? After Hikone Castle, Yumekyobashi Castle Road or Genkyu-en garden, walk back to JR Hikone Station and the Station Building is directly in front of you. We open at 17:00, which makes us a first stop once it gets dark. There is no dedicated car park, but the affiliated Mitsui no Repark Hikone Ekimae is available.
Can you get here from Maibara, Nagahama or Taga? Maibara, Nagahama, Omihachiman and Taga in the Koto area of Shiga are each a single train ride to Hikone Station, and we are about a minute from the exit. Being right outside the station keeps the walk back to your train short.
Terrace seats, power sockets, pets? We have an open terrace where smoking is permitted, and seats with power sockets. The interior is entirely non-smoking, and pets are welcome. Please tell us when you book.
What is Omi chicken? A branded chicken from Shiga, valued for its firm texture and depth of flavour. We butcher it in-house, skewer it cut by cut and grill it over high-heat Bincho charcoal so the surface chars while the inside stays juicy — from the signature momomi thigh to seseri neck, kawa skin and yagen cartilage. Pair it with our signature Hakata mizutaki or Chiran chicken tataki. A fuller explanation is in our FAQ.

プリンと焼き鳥めっちゃ美味しかったです 口コミを見ていると、キャベツの上に乗せられた人がいたみたいですが、ちゃんとお皿に置いてもらえたのよかったです👌🥰 カウンター席で調理場が見えたので 気になった点があったので返信待ってます。 📌調理時の手袋を替えるタイミングはどうされてますか？生物の調理の後に交換してますか？手を洗っている様子は見ましたが、同じ手袋で作業されているように感じました。だったら手袋なしで適宜手を洗う方が清潔だと思います。 📌親子丼の調理の時に、生卵を手袋の手と素手で黄身と白身をゴミ箱の上で分けていたのは 衛生的にどうなんだろう？と思いました。素手で黄身を持って、それを丼の最後に乗せているのを見てしまったから、だったら黄身乗せなくてよかった…と思いました。最近は黄身と白身を分けられる器具も売ってるからそういうのを活用するか、客に見えないところで作業するか…。。
2025.11.18 初訪問。水炊きや串焼きも美味しいけれど、呑み助的には鯖のスパイスポテトサラダがお勧め。割りとこれだけで焼酎何杯でも呑める感じ。また個人的にはもつニラ玉もアリだと思います。反面、水炊きの〆のラーメンは、粉くらい落としてきてもよかったかも知れません。粉付きだと…ちょっと天下一品的な〆ラーメンになり過ぎている様な…。 今回は奥の個室でしこたま呑ませて頂きました。ただ…奥の個室、携帯端末でのオーダーが通りにくいのがチト辛い。千客万来で賑わうホールより割りと静かな空間で良いのですが…。
